
Michael (He/Him/His) is an associate faculty member with the Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics. He is currently a staff chaplain with IU Health Methodist, with a clinical focus in Neuro Critical Care and Neuro related service lines. He is the chaplain interventionist with the InSight research study within the Neuro-Ophthalmology Clinic at IU Health. Michael is a Board-Certified Chaplain and prior to joining IU Health, has worked in several health systems as a chaplain. He is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and served as a congregational pastor in several communities in Indiana and Illinois. He completed the FCME Fellowship in 2022 and explored the intersection of embedded spiritual care in critical care settings. His present focus within Clinical Ethics includes access to gender affirming care, the use of normothermic regional perfusion in organ transplantation, and narrative ethics. A native of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Michael enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and trying out new recipes. A parent of three adult children, he also became a grandparent of two grandchildren.
